ABOUT MICHELE
Michele Gorcey is a self-taught “naïve” artist who began painting in 2021, during the pandemic, as a way to process her own emotions. With no formal training, she embraces an intuitive, unplanned approach—throwing paint on a surface and seeing where it leads. Her playful use of acrylics, pastels, house paint, ink, crayons, and repurposed materials like thrifted canvases, old wood signs, and reclaimed fence boards brings a sense of history and texture to her work.
Her bold, colorful, and whimsical paintings are rooted in a desire to bring happiness and connection. Michele’s art often celebrates individuality—her early works featured vibrant women crowned with flowers, each radiating the message: be yourself.
She is also the founder of eunoiacards (“yoo-noy-ah”), a greeting card line inspired by the Greek word eunoia—meaning “beautiful thinking” and “a well mind.” Through both her paintings and cards, Michele hopes to spark joy, remind people they are not alone, and encourage authentic self-expression.
