A Little History + Math

We always joked about the name F1VE with visitors to the gallery, when they would start counting heads with that puzzled look on their faces. Yes there were five of us in the beginning and we were so excited when we came up with our name and logo. But then the five became six which raised a few eyebrows...and now...they will be continuing on as four.

 Let’s help you with the math...

5 - 1= 4 when Manaz Raiszadeh left and decided to stay home with her two beautiful boys and work out of her home studio. 4 + 2 = 6 when we invited Melissa Marquardt and Sheri Hayes to join us in the F1VEart Studio back in 2023. 6 - 3 = 3 in present times when Ann Golumbuk, Susie Zol and Denise Cerro all steped away to change things up in their individual art practices, leaving some space in the studio.

We’re happy to say F1VE continues on with new math!  

3 + 1 = 4... includes original F1VE founder Yahel Yan, along with Melissa and Sheri, and welcoming Karla Preciado and her gorgeous artwork into the mix. The studio continues to be a vital part of Barracks 16 in the Arts District of Liberty Station, nurturing creative energy, collaboration, and a growing community of artists.
